6 Tricks Auto Transports Use to Take Your Money
The six tricks
are: 1. Take a deposit up front before they have a
truck available. Try getting
your money back will be more of a headache than you think.
Especially if you've signed a contract with
them. 2. Signing a contract with
them...read the fine
print VERY CLOSELY...start by looking at the jurisdiction venue if
you should have to take them to court for deposit or damages...more
often than not it will be in THEIR county and state...forcing you to
retain a lawyer there or fly to appear...99% of people are taken by
this trick. 3. Upgrading the service...you get a quote so low you can't believe
it...you sign on with them and your car never gets picked up after
you've made the deposit...then they tell you you need to "upgrade"
to priority service, by sending them $200 more...they are banking on
the fact that most people will pay or disapear in
frustration... 4. Taking your deposit, then they promise the
transport driver more money...when the truck delivers your vehicle the
driver refuses to release it to you unless you pay more money than
what you were told... 5. Un-licensed and uninsured
transports...they give your vehicle to a
transport that doesn't meet federal requirements...they negotiate a deal with the fly-by-night
transport saving themselves money but you see your car delivered and
it's damaged..you have NO recourse against them...highly
unprofessional. BEWARE! 6. Promises,promises...they tell you an exact time and date of pickup
while trying to get your deposit money...transports can and do
occasionally break down or run behind, it's a fact of
life...dispatchers will make promises just to get your
deposit!
Moving your car
should never be like this...there are honest brokers and transports
out there. Just make sure they are licensed and insured/bonded and
they don't attempt to use these "tricks" on
you. |
